In all markets where Chinese EVs are available, BEV sales significantly outstrip hybrids in 2026. EU, Australia, you name it.

At the end of the day hybrids are a transitional technology, and it makes sense to ditch the ICE entirely as soon as you can.

Verifiably untrue (at least for the EU): https://www.acea.auto/pc-registrations/new-car-registrations...

  • I stand corrected (for the EU), I didn't notice the data splits out PHEV and HEV into two buckets.

The trend is obvious though, as EV adoption increases hybrid adoption goes down.

    • This is an annoying property of "EV" stats which you have to watch out for, people playing shell games with the three categories of BEV/PHEV/HEV.

    • Hmm don't know if that follows. Hybrid adoption is not a gateway to full EV adoption, especially because the ROI and battery cost are higher (and lower) in P/HEV.
