It's definitely nothing to mess around with. I had gallstones and didn't take it seriously initially. One of my sisters had a multi-day hospitalization with acute pancreatitis and emergency cholecystectomy from her gallstones. She urged me to take my gallstones very seriously and, when my attacks got worse in my mid-40s encouraged me to advocate for myself to my GP (who was reluctant to order an ultrasound, preferring to try antacids first).
