Have you seen the state of the German auto industry? You can point and laugh.
And they have been warned about this, in 2019, by vice chancellor Robert Habeck (Greens). Too bad nobody cared to listen.
The writing was on the wall when Tesla started rolling out the Model S, in 2012. BYD followed shortly after.

Actual Germans don't care and buy them like everybody else, depending on fit, availability and price.
Germany is slightly ahead (a few percentage points) of the EU plus EFTA plus UK market average according to data:

Note the German data goes back further so you can't directly eyeball them without accounting for that.
Currently just trailing France and further behind Sweden, Denmark, Norway.
not really, Germans do hate electric cars as they don't go vroom vroom, there are no emotions transported while driving them and you are doing something for the environment.
A lot of germans hate EVs because the greens said they were good.
