I remember the inverse of that in Chennai -- scheduled running water for an hour in the morning and an hour in the evenings when we had to stockpile water in every container possible.

It's so weird reading these comments, we didn't have either of these issues in Gujarat in early 2000s (left India in mid 2000s).
Or Bombay for that matter.
Mumbai got the sweet heart treatment.
Moving from Mumbai to Pune in early 2000's was like going back to a village with 3 hour power cuts in Summer.
Outside of central Mumbai, in the suburbs this was still a thing until the 2010s
Same here from Kerala since almost 90s.
Kerala is having daily power cuts right now!

I mean that was one of the reasons why he got re-elected twice in Gujarat. It's a shame what that party has devolved to now
