10 years ago, I paid a lump sum to have three roughly 5 year-old Indian girls go all the way to college and I used to get yearly updates and pictures but then I moved a couple of times. I wonder how they’re doing now. I did my due diligence at the time with the charity and saw that their overhead was less than 12% and 88% of whatever was donated went to the kids.
That's awesome. Thanks for sharing. I do want to point out that the only overhead for my project is the bank fees. That is it.
I love what you’re doing by the way! Here is an unsolicited idea. What a lot of people in India do now is they do micro loans. This is where you provide about $1000 for people that want to start a business (like buy an auto rickshaw) or go to school. It’s massively beneficial and a bit more sustainable from the provider’s (your) perspective and you can help an order of magnitude more people. Maybe something to consider. That being said this works in India because it is a very very cheap place to live in. Africa on the other hand from what I know is both poor and expensive at the same time.

How did you get that impression? I can't conform that at all. Rent in rural areas and outside of city centers is very low. If they rent at all. Local tribes live on land that they own or get assigned to by the government and at least don't have to pay for. The rest is food and other necessities.
The issue with micro-loans is that you need infrastructure to track/enforce the re-payments. I don't see how it can be done without significant local support and it may even have some legal implications.
