Not all managers think alike, you know. Small businesses in particular (which employ most people) tend not to treat their workers that way.

We're discussing this in the context of Microsoft and other organizations large enough to employ double digit percentages of all H1B visa immigrants to the USA.
The quirks of individual managers don't matter in this context.
