You're right of course. Given they have special privileges of authority that Joe Average doesn't have, they should have even _less_ of an expectation of privacy in public.

That already happens though, typical policemen are much more tracked by the police than even criminals are so they have the least privacy in every scenario. You never get more privacy in the same situation if you were an on duty cop instead of a civilian.
