You can make an apfs volume that’s case sensitive and mount it as your project directory/etc, no need to reinstall the whole OS.

If I only want one directory to be case sensitive, yeah. I like when all of them are though.
You think that you do, like I thought that I did, but I doubt that you want it in reality. Last I checked, which was probably under a decade ago(?), there were a bunch of things on macOS that misbehave on a case-sensitive FS, both first- and third-party. I reinstalled same-day.
