Yes. The AI industry has to deliver some substantial value to the average citizen soon or there will be political trouble. Food, clothing, shelter, and medical care have not improved yet. Nor does there seem to be much AI can do in the next few years that will help with the basics.
We can have unlimited new entertainment content for passive consumption. That's about it so far. 17,000 new Asian vertical dramas a day now.
I was listening to a Verge podcast in which Nilay Patel remarked that of the AI companies started pushing for universal healthcare, AI would become a lot more popular. But no signs of this.
