I have a friend with a job like that and he is not being replaced not because it is Impossible but because it would be too expensive atm. But they replaced his whole team with workers south east Asia.

The prices are dropping fast. At some point one of the labs will decide they have a model that is good enough and they will burn its weights into silicon which will make the model much cheaper still.
