It's right about now that having a operating system distro model is great - you get folks who will package the software & test it out, make generally sensible defaults, and generally keep shenanigans like this from going on
Nix/NixOS takes it a step further and makes you have to go out of the way to enable self-updating behavior when packaging something :)
What are the top ones you recommend? ( I am running Mint Debian Linux )
