Agentic AIs (what he's talking about) are agents, obviously; you set the goal, they decide the means. Traditional programs are automation. Totally different, qualitatively.

Is a query planner an agent? (It might be, I'm not sure semantically the "agent" vs. "automation" distinction will aid as much in the discussion as "tool" vs. "automation", but I'm open to being completely off base here).
