The newly useless humans can trade with each other eventually reinstating the exact same economy we have now. That's of course as long the AI or whoever controls it doesn't need the same resources. Which they probably will.

I mean that is exactly the point: the free markets operate in such a way that for an average person situation just can't get worse. They will get their goods and services one way or another. Either from machines or from each other.
Trade what exactly? Unemployed urban dwellers or landless peasants do not control any means of production and so cannot produce anything to trade.
