I think AI is an anti-tool.
The AI uses you to get things done. In some workplaces, they are experimenting with having agents evaluate the effectiveness of their users. If the user is not a sharp tool, it recommends to management that you be discarded and replaced by someone better and more efficient at steering the AI.
You are the tool.

Who is experimenting with this? It's people in these companies using you to get things done. It's not AI itself. In other words, it's just the normal workplace/employee relationship. What you've identified is AI assisted performance review. Which maybe sucks but certainly isn't AI using you.
