A great companion piece, or you might call it a prebuttal, to this article: https://x.com/joedaroo/status/2104335929293127851

I am even more concerned after reading this piece.

He's saying the problem is that the way OpenAI employees do their work and their research is very hard to properly secure.

Well that sounds like a YOU problem. If they are working in a way that doesn't allow for strong security practices that their own security professionals can understand and vouch for, they need to stop their work until they can.

So much spilled ink to have sympathy for people who actively admit they have no control over what they are building and dont plan to change or stop. Lol

  • The US tech sector has a big problem of avoiding responsibility for their own actions and has for many years. The reasonable answer to this incident is that they massively downscale their capabilities until they can ensure they can test their models without endangering others. Because this is not profitable and would potentially get them fired, they write lines and lines on X the Everything App about its oh so hard to deal with progress this fast and actually its your fault that you havent hardened your security against our petabyte scale "superintelligence" and how its unreasonable that they be held responsible for the software they are developing and deploying.
