Maybe. I think they had good intentions though, but it just turned out they spoiled the generation. I don’t think this was obvious until way past when the damage was done. The fact they provided so much for them and they ladder pull from their own kids is when it became apparent.
I wonder... The boomers were the first generation born to "the nuclear family". Before that raising kids was a much bigger affair, there were always extended family or neighbors around to help with child care. Is this what made my generation (boomers) so fucked up?
I think you rode a humungous asset wave, but have left ripples for other generations. You are a generation of wealth. I'm an xennial, basically a latchkey kid. My childhood was roaming on a BMX or skateboard. Parents divorced at 4, dad is a trust fund kid that spoiled it all. He and his dad mooched on their early 1900s immigrant parents had success as a merchant in texas. They've let million dollar properties get seized from not paying a small utility bill. Like, if it were stated in this month's USD $5xxx bill with $2x,xxx,xx annual net income. They just never read the mail, none of the 200 notices over 5 years, and it doesn't help they think covert LEOs are watching, following, attempting to murder them. Make for a decent movie but this is the bat shit crazy version.
