I walked away with _mostly_ the opposite impression. They have a specific tone of voice! I think that's good.
I've yet to see any company match the copy writing skills of Valve though.

Fascinating.. one could say that goes both ways? Came off refreshing (cut the ai marketing bs).
Toobad the fonts are ridiculous bad though. Relax.
