there's a whole lot of systemic issues with wealthy people buying low-poly cars to their collection.

Don't make fun of the Delorean. Or The Thing.

  • The funny part and why it was understood to be preposterous in 1985/1986 when Back to the Future came out, is that the DeLorean was not particularly fast at all, and shipped from the factory with a very anemic engine relative to its weight and cost. Its 0-60 speed was something like 8.8 to 10.5 seconds. For comparison a modern Kia Carnival minivan has a 0-60 time of 7.0 seconds.

What systemic issues?

  • Issues like "should society allow an economic system that leads to such vast wealth inequality?"

    • Wealth inequality obviously is a good thing as otherwise no one could save up for larger purchases. So far I don't see an issue with having this inequality be really, really big.

It's not a zero sum game, after all.
