300 years ago 97% of workers were farmers. We automated almost all those jobs away. Is there extraordinary unemployment?

I know, this time it’s different, AI is different, blah blah blah.

Of course changes that happened over course of centuries can’t be compared with larger changes happening (or promised to be happening) in a few years.

  • It didn't happen over the course of centuries. My grandma was a small land holder and grew her own crops until she passed away. None of her children or grandchildren have any relationship to farming.

    • It happened over course of generations, while a huge lot of jobs were created in the cities and/or in the industrial centers (also mostly in cities). In the postindustrial stage, a lot of jobs were created in the service areas. Nothing like that is happening now at all. No jobs are created in any field whatsoever; they are only being destroyed.
