It get's into exactly what happened: humanity was enslaved by a small minority of people across the galaxy for 1000s of years. Where the Spacing Guild, Mentats, and Bene Gesserit were the three things to come after; but even then humanity is still enslaved but the amount of slavers increased.

This isn't a belief, it's describing the events exactly as they happened.
