Work is a significant amount of my waking life. I chose this career because it is something I enjoy. But AI is removing a lot of the enjoyment for me. And saying "if you don't like it, just switch careers" is not helpful, and ignores the difficulty and cost of doing so.
Yeah, it's kinda hard to separate "work" from "life" when even in saner working conditions you spend a third of your day at it. And if you're anything like me, you spend the other third trying to mentally recover from the misery it's causing you.
