So all local universities have now essentially shut down their web-services for students. This is ... kind of curious because now you can not download recent updates (e. g. new .pdf files published) from that software.

We need a long-term solution with regards to PHP. PHP is a success story - so much web-software depends on it. But it also has become a liability when they are all now scared that the server can be easily taken over. This is not acceptable, PHP.

PHP has been a security dumpster fire for decades. It's just how the entire web ecosystem works: some web designer lacking any technical know-how is asked to make a site and dumps WordPress on it out of habit.

Even though there are much more secure CMS technologies out there like Umbraco or Piranha (both ASP.NET) and web stores like NopCommerce (ASP.NET also).

There are just too many technically clueless people building web sites and web stores.
