It will serve people over a much longer time span though for use in whatever machinery ends up giving us something approaching a utopia.

If you're going to insist on building your nihilistic, brainless, anti-human world, where the best outcome is that the AI remembers to refill the pet food bowl and clean the litter box, first find a way to let people opt out of your brand of hell.
No, you’re coming along whether you like it or not (assuming we don’t hit some sort of cap). Anti-human is a ridiculous thing to call something that will never have sentience, but can hyper charge almost everything we want to do. Our current paradigm of forced work five days a week is not humanity’s final destination.
