Funny, both books scream default LaTeX

Both books are default LaTeX. What’s wrong with that?

  • It stands out as not too common a sight for books, so having two like this, more or less in the same style, on the same topic, both posted in this thread, is amusing. Maybe it's not that rare and I'm just not reading enough books from academics for whom a book is like a weird long paper with hand-holding for amateurs.

    • Physicists use LaTeX and less often plain TeX a lot as you say because of writing papers. I think that the basic LaTeX book document style provides a workable set of features, and that lets the author just focus on the content. I'd imagine that commercial publishers e.g. OUP would redefine the basic macros to produce output in their house style.
