No one claimed that innovation never happens in Europe. But there are reasons why Europe lags the USA in the pace of innovation, and is falling even further behind. Low wages for technologists is one reason. Other reasons include immature capital markets, excessive regulation (on things that don't even protect consumers or the environment), punitive bankruptcy laws, weak tertiary education systems, and risk-averse cultures. Some of those things they could fix very quickly if they wanted to adopt a growth agenda and stop being poor.

"Stop being poor" is laughable, as somebody who's walked the streets of the Tenderloin before.

Sure, there's poverty in Europe, and sure the GDP per capita is lower. But poverty and absolute precarity like it exists in every major US city is unheard of here.

Ironically, part of the culprit for creating these absolutely destitute inhumane conditions is said "growth agenda".

  • This thought process is why nobody in the US considered Europe a threat to our tech sector. You still don’t get it.

    • Maybe it is people in the US that still don't get it? What you are considering is not relevant to the reality on the ground.

The American Court of Nero is currently torching its Empire, whether it can still be salvaged is yet to be seen.

It is precisely the lack of regulation, the social decay and the "growth agenda" that has driven the country to this point. You don't need Europe as a threat. You are self-destructive enough to do enough damage all by yourselves.
