You know how they say, don't keep all of your eggs in one basket? It's really concerning to me that they've got all their eggs on LLMs. They really should have branched out more long ago. OpenAI has a lot of branches they can aim towards.
That's their choice from the beginning, high risk/high reward. Copying your competitors strategy is rarely a good choice.
Not saying to copy OpenAI, but there's areas they could have innovated in with Claude that they haven't explored.
