It’s not just about credit. Mortgages require money and money comes from working a job.
R&D and its practitioners are already under mighty pressure to justify their existence, if credit is taken off the table it’s the end of it as a means to survive (let alone comfortably).
Society has already settled the question of whether it's ok to render someone's job obsolete.
