TIL that WPATH was founded in 1979 in Illinois to "promote evidence-based care, education, research, advocacy, public policy, and respect in transgender health"
It just shows how progressive and, sorry to bring this up, socialist the US has been historically. Truly a beacon of hope in a world mired in prejudice and dogma.
