Yes. Personally I'd prefer the US government get its stake from a bankruptcy court for pennies on the dollar.

They didn't "invest". The Dems gave Intel free money to invest in fabs. The next President said the US public got ripped off by that and got a 10% stake "for free" to try and make up for it.
It was worth $8.9 billion when the US govt got it "for free". It's worth $23B today, even after the big drops recently. How is the US public worse off?
OpenAI are openly suggesting 5%, but my instinct is that this is because they think Trump is foolish enough to demand double that.
