Some benchmarks to compare:

Apple: 5 T

Google: 3.5 T

Meta: 1.55 T

Microsoft: 3.97 T

Berkshire Hathaway: 1.2 T

Eli Lilly: 1.28 T

Tesla: 1.38 T

Walmart: 1 T

Spotify: 125 billion

Crazy to think they'd still be worth more than Walmart. At least to me.

  • Walmart is in a mature low-margin business. Their global expansion has stalled, and in the US competition is increasing

There are also many positive things about them. They are huge, and innovating. But their growth potential is somewhat limited

  • I think it's crazy that Walmart is worth 1T. It's grocery chain operating in limited number of contries. Shouldn't be worth much more than for example, Carrefour.

    • A lot of non-tech non-AI companies have seen outsized gains this year as people use them for AI hedging.

    • I think about what it would take for a small group of smart people to do what they do. Walmart? Seems hard. Meta? I could see that.

I know that’s oversimplifying and probably naive, but huge physical operations seem like more of a moat.

When you mention Tesla, don't forget Space-X. The value proposition of Teslafanboys was always that Tesla is not a car company and now Musk splits it up between Tesla and Space-X

Tesla + Space-X: 3T
