I have a generator, because our power goes out for hours at a time regularly and days at a time infrequently. If I didn't have to own a generator, maintain it, and manage the gasoline for it, that'd be great. For an equivalent capability (run the house for a couple of days), I need to keep several gallons of gas on hand, make sure it doesn't get old, and refill after a couple of days.

(This post doubles as an indictment of PG&E.)
