Stuff like this seemed to happen a lot back when webOS was a semi-serious contender in the mobile OS race. I remember that many times the downgraded functionality and bugs could be “patched” by changing the user agent. At the time I didn’t think much about it, but it may have very well been a strategy to make android more “competitive”
