There was a lot of sandmining happening on Maui up until recently. They have these massive inland sand dunes and MAUI LANI PARTNERS was stealing it under the guise of "grading". I think it's atrocious because there are many beloved people buried there. Kanaka would sometimes bury bodies in the sand as such is cleansing. Despite attempts to destroy Kanaka culture and history, there are still many living descendants who remember the names of their kupuna, buried in that sand.

I feel really sick about this. The flesh decays and becomes part of the sand, and a lot of what MAUI LANI PARTNERS stole was sold off to make concrete for buildings and the rail which the city of honolulu is attempting to build.

I mean... just... Jesus Fuckin Christ.
