The author seems focused on that aspect as the reason Linus is against ABI changes. But in fact this was his stance for years as he's user-centric: people expect things to continue to work when they upgrade the kernel, so if you have to break their experience, you really need a very good reason. It's not like he's started thinking this way when he became an employee of the LF.
