just came here to say digital ocean is garbage. i setup some droplets years ago that i didnt need anymore but im trapped in this kafkaesque nightmare where they wont let me cancel. support has been terrible and meanwhile they are happy to just keep charging my credit card :( after reversing charges with my issuer twice, a month went by without charges but then they started charging it again! i have to change my credit card number and will be done with it, but what of this orphan account just sitting there eating cycles... ugh...

Have you tried to log into your control panel and delete your droplets? This doesn't sound like a DigitalOcean problem on its face.
that's exactly the problem is i cant login, and account recovery efforts have gone in circles
Fix the log in issue and delete your servers.
What would you expect Amazon Web Services to say if you were unable to log in on your AWS account and remove your EC2 instances?

update: someone from DO reached out and helped to fix the problem. it was still an experience getting to this point... so big up to whoever was lurking on hn. :) all is well that ends well
