The dev deserved to be treated kindly, by default.

But by being unkind himself, he surrendered that privilege.

So now he won't and shouldn't get what he asked for.

I don't understand how an adult human could fail to understand this.

Asking a favor while simultaneously being a jerk is not likely to work.
