Refreshing to read something so well written: clear, supported with examples, but still drops in some rare words to expand your vocabulary.

His explanation seems sound, but probably underplays the still immense value of large language models as a mega-autocomplete.

Have you actually tried any of the examples given? There are many comments already showing he’s fundamentally wrong.

What do you mean by mega-autocomplete?

I'm pretty sure you can not expand this word without contradicting this article.

  • Chomsky describes ChatGPT as "kind of super-autocomplete". That is far different than true intelligence, but still very useful. A fixed wing and jet engine is not a bird wing, but still very useful.
