What was the overall point of the talk?
I get the sense that the talk was meant as a rebuttal to something, but I'm not exactly sure what. Some of the points come off as disconnected.

That's correct, this talk was given back when nerds were reading his book and scaring themselves silly.

Guess I saw the title, "Superintelligence: An idea that eats smart people", and thought of it as being about that general topic (of superintelligence), rather than being about a specific book.
