Israel left the Gaza strip and spent a fortune removing the settlements. They were rewarded with ever more war. The key lesson is that the top priority of the Palestinians when given a state is to immediately vote for and focus on killing Jews.
How about “no killing” and “share power and cohabit peacefully or you’re both kicked out”? That seems fair and reasonable. I would agree an adult nation state needs to be in charge of this. Otherwise, this conflict persists for eternity, as someone will always have incentive to dissuade peace.
It’s terrible (“madness” said accurately lately by certain nation states) and everyone local has shown to be unable or unwilling to have accountable authority or power.
