Re merges: that's very compelling. I've encountered that issue many times using Dropbox for syncing.

I need a serverless approach because my machines at home are off most of the time so that discounts SFTP. I also use syncthing-fork.
Resilio Sync is pretty good although proprietary
I think ultimately KeepassDX must integrate Syncthing functionality into itself
