These people likely didn't affirmatively do that. 1 comment kube-system Reply account42 1 year ago IIRC at least for a while it defaulted to unlisted and then at some point YouTube changed all unlisted videos to private which removed a lot of videos from view where the original uploader was no longer around to set the video to public.
