You can turn on showdead in your profile if you’d like to see them.

Thanks. That is actually very helpful.

EDIT: I am aware of content that was removed from this page, but I cannot see it with this setting.

    You can email hn@ycombinator.com if you have a specific issue. Generally speaking though user moderation doesn’t delete comments it marks them dead, which showdead reveals.

      There are definitely some comments from this thread that were permadeleted or otherwise squashed beyond the "show dead" level.
