I just want to say I appreciate your rant. Maybe this declarative web push API signals they are spending some developer time improving the "Add to Home Screen" experience overall.

I hope the whole industry pushes to prefer websites-as-apps. So many services have both native apps and websites and one or the other is broken or limited for no good reason other than it's hard to develop two things instead of one.
