Why did the posting two days ago omit the first part of the title?

The submitter chose the title but they were right to do so.

The full title of the paper is "Your Brain on ChatGPT: Accumulation of Cognitive Debt when Using an AI Assistant for Essay Writing Task". It exceeds the 80 character limit for HN titles, so something had to be cut. They cut the first part, which is the baitier and less informative part.

The phrase "This is your brain on ..." is from an old anti-drugs campaign, and is deliberately chosen here to draw parallels between the effects of drugs and chatbots on the brain. It's fine for the authors to do that in their own title but when something has to be cut from the title for HN, that's the right part to cut.
