My guess is that DNS caching in web browsers prevents repeated lookup requests where as maybe the transmission implementation has no caching and does a lookup every time.

My guess is that DNS caching in web browsers prevents repeated lookup requests where as maybe the transmission implementation has no caching and does a lookup every time.
That makes the most sense.
