Such a smart point.

I see this in my own experience with therapy. Someone might ask: why wouldn't you be totally honest or transparent if you're paying someone to listen to you and offer advice?

Well, it's hard! Lots of topics are very uncomfortable. It can (and did) take time to draw out genuine feelings on my many topics.

And my therapist frequently presents counterpoints. Not arguments. Just, as you said, pointing out inconsistencies.

That said, I've used LLMs here and there for some specific theraputic things. Asked for a framework/some thinking around tackling imposter syndrome and thought it was productive. Not perfect. Not human. But, not ruminating in my own head.
