You're trained to look for LLM-like output. My 70 year old mother is not. She thought cabbage tractor was real until I broke the news to her. It's not her fault either.
The turning test wasn't meant to be bulletproof, or even quantifiable. It was a thought experiment.
And in one thought, I found that LLM can't yet pass that imaginary experiment, yes. So I would argue what we already know: LLM are not thinking lol. I can distinguish them, they're not gonna trick me, or play with me.
I agree with you, I'm just saying that's not what the turing test was about.
