I've thought about this kind of thing.
There are a few huge personality disconnects at many companies.
One is that a lot of programmers are introverts and the people who hire them frequently are not.
If not managed well, this can lead to like hiring like and other problems where people who like to think deeply about problems are excluded or just not understood.
The open seating problem is adjacent. Managers might love to collaborate all day but a lot of introverts are working in a difficult environment.
