Building https://check.supply: the easiest way to mail a real paper check from your iPhone. Link your bank, type the amount, and we print + mail it for you — with optional certified or express USPS tracking

I built this same thing about 15-20 years ago, there was no plaid so I just had them input their routing and account info, I could print anything I wanted on the MICR line so I don't see why you need access to a user's bank account (seems intrusive to me). Also, at that time, I had trouble getting people to pay me even enough to cover postage so bravo to you if you have people paying you $7/check.

Major US banking apps I've used in the past 7 or so years already support mailing physical checks directly from their mobile apps via their bill pay service. Just add someone's physical address as a "payee", create a payment, and it sends them a check in the mail, for free. Perhaps your app is slightly more convenient and has more advanced features which make it worth the fee, but it seems like a problem already mostly solved and widely available.

Really nice app design. For us outside the US, what is the use case for this? I don't think I've seen a paper check in over twenty years.

  • just what I was thinking

    - great idea / app

    - I am never gonna use it

    - I bet shit-ton of people still use checks for something and this is cool for them

this is slick, nice work! We're in the market for a service like this but we're looking for an API to do high volume check-based refunds. Are you mailing the checks out yourself or working with a third party?
