SpaceX and Musk called on to rescue China's Shenzhou-20 crew

>A Chinese rescue mission is improbable as the Shenzhou-20 crew faces no immediate danger and China could simply launch Shenzhou-22 earlier as a replacement, if needed.

This is just clickbait. There's no one seriously calling for this and it wouldn't work anyway.

  • The headline never matches the <title> so it seems to be a final stage in publishing. And the headline is always more catchy, though in this case it is just an annoying waste of time for a non story.

SpaceX fans quickly began calling for a rescue mission

So nobody of importance has called for this. Did somebody at El Reg have a quota of Musk-glazing they needed to fill?

Good grief what's happened to The Register? Rampant clickbait everywhere. Mike and John would be horrified.

  • El Reg has always had clickbaity titles. It's part of their charm. The only real difference with this one is the woeful lack of a groan-inducing pun.

  • Yeah. OTOH, the clickbait seems confined to the title & subtitle on this one. By the 4th para, the story has admitted that "called on" is just noise in the SpaceX-fan bubbleverse. And that the chance of it being technically optimal is ~0.0000% - even if the CCP was somehow utterly blind to the optics of such a "rescue".

LOL, the definition of clickbait, no? :)
